Envision It!

December 1, 2018 By Tara Moorman, PhD

“I have had my vision.” Virginia Woolf, To the Lighthouse

This is Tip #6 in the Wholehearted Living Series…

Have you had your vision yet? What is your vision of your future? What are your dreams? Have you ever taken the opportunity to daydream about what things could look like? Perhaps you have, and you enjoyed the process. Or maybe…well, just maybe you don’t like what you see. Or. Perhaps, you don’t know what you want to see.

It’s all good.

I promise.

Let’s start anew. Whether you’re an avid daydreamer, a professional vision boarder, a novice, or non-believer in your own future. Let’s start right this minute.

Grab a few colorful magazines (if you don’t have any, track some down first (doctor’s offices are great, and they’ll often just let you have them)). Get out your Amazing Feelings List. Pull your gratitude journal over. Light some candles, grab some smell-good stuff, get yourself a piece of super rich yummy something. Review all the juicy goodness. Close your eyes. Feel the feelings AGAIN. You know how to generate them. Picture those most wonderful things, and give your body permission to bathe in the goodness.

This exercise is just to get you into the zone. Feeling the feelings and enjoying it.

Don’t worry about what you think your future is supposed to look like. Don’t concern yourself with what job you think you should have or how much money you should make or how many kids you should have. Just percolate the feelings. And start imagining those feelings flying out into your future. They’re here. In you. Right now. Just imagine feeling them in 1 year. In 5 years. In 10 years. Let your mind and body bathe in their reality.

Now, pull those magazines over, and start flipping. Tear out (please don’t cut unless you absolutely must. We want to give the inner critic a rest here) pictures, words, and colors that strike an emotional cord. Let them resonate at the pitch that your most loved feelings sing at.

Don’t pay too much attention to what you’re tearing out. Be a kid. Go for it. Let your MOST ADORED FEELINGS create a collage of your future.

Glue or tape them on a poster board, a wall, a mirror or the fridge. Look at them daily. Let your Vision grow. And say a little prayer of gratitude to the Universe for the future that is already here and that is coming.

Go get it!
